Join us at the heart of Lawrence, Kansas, for an unforgettable Durga Puja celebration, organized by Lawrence Utsav, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This vibrant event will take place at the Douglas County 4H Fairgrounds on October 5th and 6th, promising a rich tapestry of cultural heritage, devotion, and community spirit.

Event Highlights:

  • Venue: Douglas County 4H Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St, Building 21, Lawrence, KS 66046
  • Dates: October 5 & 6

Schedule:

  • October 5:
    • Morning Puja and Chandipath rituals from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.
    • Pushpanjali and Prasad distribution at 12:30 PM.
    • A sumptuous lunch from 1:00 PM followed by local cultural programs until 3:30 PM.
    • Evening Aarti at 6:00 PM and Dinner at 7:00 PM.
    • Special cultural program by Sumana Ganguly from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
  • October 6:
    • Dasami Puja, Visarjan, and Sindoor Khela starting at 10:30 AM.
    • Lunch at 12:00 PM to conclude the festivities.

Special Attraction:

Sumana Ganguly, a celebrated finalist from SaReGaMaPa and a collaborator with the legendary singer Manna Dey, will grace the event with her enchanting performance. Her presence is sure to add a magical touch to the evening of October 5th.

Ganesh Chaturthi holds a special place in the hearts of Indians worldwide. This festival marks the arrival of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. It’s a time when families come together, homes are adorned with beautiful decorations, and communities unite in prayer and celebration.

In Kansas City, we are honored to host KANSASCITY CHAA RAJA, the grandest Ganesh Pandal in the Midwest. This event is not just a religious gathering but a cultural extravaganza that embodies the spirit of unity and devotion. It’s a chance for us to connect with our roots, celebrate our traditions, and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

13th September 2024 – Day 1:

  • Ganesh Murti Sthapna: The installation of the Ganesha idol, accompanied by soulful bhajans and puja rituals.
  • Mahotsav Celebration: Immerse yourself in the divine atmosphere with music and joyous sounds.
  • Aarti & Open Darshan: Aarti followed by public darshan.

14th September 2024 – Day 2:

  • Open Darshan: 8:30 AM
  • Morning Aarti
  • Ganesh Maha Puja Hawan: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM. Participate in the powerful Ganesh Maha Puja and Hawan.
  • Ganesh Chalisa & Hanuman Chalisa: Recite these sacred verses as we continue the celebrations.
  • Mahotsav Celebration: Music, devotion, and unity.

15th September 2024 – Day 3:

  • Open Darshan: 8:30 AM

1) Natural clay (non-toxic, water-soluble) (possible Brands- Craft Smart, Air Dry, DAS) (Color-Any-Terracota/White/Grey) (Available on Amazon, Michaels, JoAnn, Hobby Lobby). (Suggestion: You can make one medium sized idol with 2lbs of clay)
2) A Base/Box/hard plate to carry the Ganesha idol.
3) A waterproof/plastic sheet/tarp and a trash bag for messy workspace.
4) Platic knife/fork/toothpick/skewer (or Pumpkin carving kit)
5) Water bottle, cup, paper towels, etc.

Rape is an abhorrent crime that strips away the dignity, safety, and humanity of its victims. We unequivocally condemn this inhumane act and stand in unwavering solidarity with survivors everywhere. It is our collective responsibility to demand a society where such violence is not tolerated, where justice is swift, and where the voices of the affected are heard and supported.

This is not just an Indian issue; it is a global issue, a human issue. No matter which part of India you come from, or even if you’re not Indian, your voice matters. Now is the time to come together as one, in a unified protest and call for action right here in Kansas City.

We urge you—please join us for a Peaceful Demonstration on Monday, August 19th, from 8 PM to 9 PM at the Hindu Temple Premises. Our collective voice will be a powerful message to the lawmakers of India: Justice delayed is justice denied. We will not stand idly by.

This is a non-political demonstration. It is about human rights, about dignity, about ensuring a future where respect, consent, and safety are non-negotiable. We demand QUICK JUSTICE for the survivors.
