The Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of Kansas City invites the entire community to participate in the sacred and vibrant celebration of Sri Venkateswara Brahmotsavam. This annual event is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and is rooted in a centuries-old tradition, where Lord Brahma is believed to have initiated the very first celebration.
This spiritually significant festival features a series of rituals and vahana sevas, where Lord Venkateswara is ceremoniously paraded on different divine vehicles throughout the weekend.
Highlights of the Brahmotsavam Celebrations
During the three-day festival, devotees can witness and take part in:
- Gaja Vahana Seva (Elephant Vehicle)
- Garuda Vahana Seva (Eagle Vehicle)
- Sesha Vahana Seva (Serpent Vehicle)
- Surya Prabha Seva (Sun Vehicle)
- Chandra Prabha Seva (Moon Vehicle)
- Rathotsavam (Chariot Procession – a rare and divine experience in the USA)
- Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva (Unjal Seva with 1000 lamps)
Additional sacred rituals include:
- Chakrasnabhishekam
- Suprabhata Seva
- 108 Kalasha Abhishekam
- Lakshmi Narasimha Homam
- Sri Venkateswara Kalyanam
- Mangala Aarathi (daily closing prayers)
