New Zealand, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted a total of 251 for seven in their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with 63 runs, while Michael Bracewell contributed an unbeaten 53 off 40 balls. India’s spinners played a crucial role in restricting New Zealand, with Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy each claiming two wickets.
In response, India started strongly with an opening partnership of 105 runs between captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.
