Parent Volunteer opportunity with Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City

Dear TAGKC Members,

Want to be a teacher for a day at an Elementary school? Experience the class room that all our kids go through from a teacher point of view?

Here is an exciting opportunity TAGKC is bringing to you to volunteer and teach 1st-grade kids. We all know that they are fun!!!

Volunteer at Forrest View Elementary School (12567 S Canyon Dr, Olathe, KS 66061) on April 25th  for a single-day volunteer opportunity with Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City!

Don’t worry about preparation. It is simple and you will be given all the training you need (30 mins) to run the class and all teaching aids will be provided to you. It is simple and takes only a couple of hours of preparation at the max.

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. They do this by recruiting volunteers from the community to teach K-12 students about financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.

We have two different time options for you to sign up and we will be teaching 1st graders. We need two volunteers for each class and if you want to partner with your friend, then that makes it easy and fun! If you choose to volunteer for the whole day then you can teach all 5 lessons to the same class or we can mix and match.

Volunteers use fun and easy materials provided by JA to lead students through preplanned curriculum that is age-appropriate. During a JA in a Day event, volunteers present all 5 lessons to their classroom from8am-3pm. Students (and volunteers) get a break during the day when students go to lunch, recess, and specials (art, P.E., music, etc.).

Junior Achievement provides all of the materials and training you need, and by volunteering with JA you get to experience the joy of teaching children the skills they need for life in the real world.
